Jason spends so much time in self doubt and refusing to acknowledge his own feelings, it becomes like a bad soap opera after a while. Virtually the whole middle of the book was unnecessary to move the plot along and it felt like a whine fest after a while. That being said, I genuinely enjoyed the beginning and end of the book and the performance is very good.
