I bought this series looking for something in the lighthearted cozy-fantasy vein akin to Legends and Lattes but could not get to the end. The first book was almost okay but so difficult to get through. I gave up on the 2nd. The premise is an entertaining idea, but in execution the author strayed too far from the main point and the end result has too many characters vying to be the lead with such disorganized multiple points of view that ultimately didnt feel like they served any purpose in moving the plot along; it felt like a haphazard dnd campaign and I didn’t care about any of the other characters or their backstories. It was less about the main vampire and his unfortunate circumstances as it was about a cast of characters who are all half formed and pront to getting up to wiley hijinks.
