Ok, like so many I was a little put off with the Angelus Salvatore name. But regardless of the nod to Buffy and Vampire Diaries the author has a way with words. They are excellent at description and wording things so well.

Then get to the story and world building and I’m blown away. I think I saw somewhere this was their 1st book, but don’t quote me on that. All I can say is they have a talent, and before I finished the 1st book I bought the rest of the series on audiobook, especially since they are on sale right now.

If you like supernatural books and a bit of a dark storyline with a touch of romance thrown in for good measure, this will be right up your alley. There really is a reason the reviews of this series are so high.

Then add in Joel’s narration and the words just sooth and take you away into the story. If you haven’t heard Joel’s narrations before, you may feel a bit thrown off by his voice, I know I was at 1st forever ago when I heard him for the 1st time. He has a almost tremble to it, although that isn’t at all what it really is, maybe a vibration or cadence, but while I didn’t like it at 1st, now I adore his voice. He brings life and feeling into a book with out going overboard into breathy and gasping. He is also excellent at showing emotion and voice projection and his creepy voices that he does for misc bad guys is really good with out being over the top.
