I enjoyed this quite a bit, odd since it was “post apocalyptic” which i am normally not a fan of and maybe that is why i put off the series, or maybe it was the shorter books. Anyway, post nuclear war underprivileged orphan kid works in virtual mines to exist. It really isn’t as bad as it sounds but others have it much better. Luckily the corporate overloads occasionally put valuable chests in the mines which this kid finds and many adventure and good fortune come from that. The story actually turns out to be a feel good/hopeful series and was a pleasant listen.
Characters: I liked them and enjoyed hanging out with them throughout the series. This post apocalyptic world is full of really good and loyal people with at least one over the top jerk thrown in, but you have to expect that. Not sure why he talks like Darth Vader though “sister”/”father”…..dude just say her name and call him dad already.
Narrator: No complaints would listen to again.
Summary: Light, fun litrpg. It looks like this was from the same guy that did Sentence to Troll which I recall liking too. I am thinking it was the 7hr books that kept me from diving into this series sooner but as a complete set it is a bargain and a strong recommend along with Sentence to Troll complete series. Unless of course you are all about dark and gritty, then you can skip. This is light hearted fun, I don’t recall any cussing and the relationships are friendships so probably good for kids interested in the genre.
Any complaints? Maybe a little sad that stats get dropped in last “book”. And I was expecting more with some advanced NPCs that entered the story late. Oh and there was a car crash I thought may have more to it. It seems like there were more ideas in here that were dropped or edited out but sometimes the vision changes and the story goes another way. Of course maybe it is as it always was and my own imagination just ran away with ideas. Anyway fun series.
