This audiobook will not be for everyone. It is irreverent, offensive, insulting, gross, extremely non-PC…and a whole lot of fun. Their are crude jokes, ugly aliens who look like dicks (literally), stereotypes, fat-shaming,and lots of serio-comedic violence. There is also a little love story tucked inside, enduring friendships, sacrifice, heroism, and an LPH (laugh per hour) rating off the charts. An alien race who apparently learned everything they know about Earth and the human race, including the language, from multi-person role-playing games, issues a challenge for control of the Earth. Space Force, the laughing-stock of the U.S. armed forces becomes Earth’s last hope when one of the members accidentally accepts the challenge on the Earth’s behalf, setting up a contest with the aliens and other Earth governments who believe they are better prepared for the fight. Let the adventure begin.
The narration is great. I love listening to pretty much anything voiced by Jeffrey Kafer. His snarky, belittling, arrogant character voice was perfect for Stone. The other narrators were good, too, although Kafer and Woo provided most of the narration. I loved the way the book afterward took a poke at the author, too.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
