This book was a wonderful illustration of life in the parental trenches. Parents of both sexes have to traverse many obstacles to raise their little ones to adulthood. This is Nick Owen’s story.
We see Nick as a fledging stay-at-home dad to twin girls. Over the course of the book he grows into his role while managing the many bumps along the way, most significantly keeping his working wife happy.
We applaud when he succeeds, wince when he fails (which he does often), and cringe every time ‘super Mom’ comes into view.
The narration was really good. I’ve listened to several Wehrlen books and it always amazes me that he captures the essence of his characters so well.
This is not a laugh-out-loud book of funny but it does hit the smirk button, especially for us parents.
