If you are a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer then Kindred is the story for you. This is a young adult paranormal story about vampires and the people who slay vampires. Chris, Cassie, and Melissa are high school seniors who are hunters. They train with Luther to slay vampires. As a hunter they have a shorter lifespan than the average human.
Sara Pluckett narrates all the characters in this paranormal story. This story is told from the third person perspective so it’s fitting that one narrator would be the voice of all characters. Although, I would have loved to hear Devon’s voice narrated by a male. Some if the fighting scenes could have used a little more acting. Overall, Sara’s performance was average.
Devon is over seven hundred years old yet he still looks like an eighteen old. Devon and Cassie are unaware they are on opposing teams. They have a strong bond with both wanting to protect the other. Devon’s vampire characteristics are similar to most other vampire stories. Nothing uniquely different stands out about him.
Despite all the similar vampire qualities the one that is different is his ability to fall in love with a vampire hunter. Her fate is to protect the humans at any cost even if it means hunting Devon, the enemy.
