This series by Boyd Craven is genuinely excellent for entertainment value along the stylings of James Wesley Rawles. There are helpful little survival tidbits to pick up on along the way, but the groups “farm”, preps, and overall skill leave them with very little struggle to survive and me with a sense that it really crosses over into the unrealistic. I’m actually fine with that because I don’t always want to read a survival story that spends so much time on being realistic that it comes off like a high school text book. Overall I enjoyed the story that I found myself excited for the next book all the way through the series including now hoping that book 5 will drop soon.
