Sold me half of a book for full price. What should have been a great book read by one of the best narrators alive was ruined by the author’s lack of integrity. The author started with a good premise, reasonably memorable characters, and the beginnings of an interesting conflict with a mysterious and evil villain… and then ended the book without any resolution or real plot points and tacked on a hurried few lines which were a sorry excuse for an ending. Himes clearly ran out of time and just ended the book in the middle of the story with “and they got married. The End” A truly disappointing and embarrassing effort from an author usually capable of good writing. I can’t believe Joel Leslie would even be associated with this streaming dumpster fire of literary trash.
