I enjoyed most of this book.
If you have started the series I would recommend continuing.
If you are familiar with the hero’s journey by Joseph Campbell this follows the traditional line. It even does it well through the first 7/8s of the book.

Spoilers below?

Though the last eighth of the book rather than resolving ramps up to the edge a cliffhanger that leaves me unsatisfied.
It’s like the level of a game that you have struggled to beat then rather than giving you a place to save your game and go grab a bite to eat, it kills you and takes away any ground you’ve gained. Also the big “reveal” seems to be telegraphed from the beginning of the book.
