For reference, I don’t usually spend time writing reviews since there are usually plenty of other good ones to see, but I just hope someone reads this and decides to give it a try.

As the litRPG genre has been getting more and more over-saturated by new authors and their mediocre work, this was an extremely refreshing experience. Although, I think it was severely enhanced by the amazing performances of Jeff Hays, the writing was a far cry better than some of the things I’ve heard lately.

At the start it seems a little edgy sure, but once you get into it, the characters really come alive as the protagonist has everything thrown at him and is a great mix of troubled expert mixed with ignorance. The fact that he essentially discarded his only information source, and relies on whatever he can learn from others is frustrating in concept, but is a layer of storytelling I really appreciated.
