The first two books are passable and enjoyable. After that, you can almost hear the Fox News playing behind him as he writes. The increasingly political viewpoint is pretty off-putting for a liberal and reinforcing for a conservative, very echo-chambered. That being said, the plot takes some really dumb turns and the final push is super dumb. Oddly, he describes a lot of violence in vivid detail, but refuses to have the characters curse, which is an odd choice and a complete disconnect from reality. I guess he started getting too far into the conservative bag and took the language “high road” when killing all of the children in the book.
It’s by far the weakest apocalyptic series I’ve listened to, especially to have made it to multiple books. I guess the audience saw something in it, but I’m glad I only spend one credit on the whole series.
