Story:
There are definitely some interesting concepts here, don’t get me wrong.
I enjoy the main-character, the world-building, the situations, the side-characters…
But the cat. Holy hell, the cat irks me.
This book *feels* like it was written by a person that makes their cat wear sweaters and insists that “She likes it, all that thrashing-around she’s doing is her happy-dance!”
It *feels* like it was written by someone that would unironically say “My princess-cat is my child”.
This *FEELS* like it was written by someone that exclusively wears cardigans covered in white cat hair, in an apartment that reeks of ammonia and fish.
Narration:
Jeff Hays is fantastic. He’s one of the best narrators I’ve ever heard.
