Well, the apocalypse happened and everything goes insane. After a cliffhanger ending to the first book, I was glad to have the second immediately follow. Essentially: a family man turns from teacher to leader and hero to save his family (and maybe his corner of the world). There is more adventure than usual with this genre… it’s not all about evil people you meet on the road! There also is a distinct lack of a too-often ill-disguised prepper’s handbook. (Always a relief!) But I found it strayed into condescending remarks about the wife a few times too many ( largely to expand on the husbands heroics) The first two books are really one longer on. But the third??? The premise fir it is both very different and a complete logical break from the earlier books. No kidding, I was tempted to start cheering against the protagonist due to the sheer stupidity… but well, it is what it is… and skipping over that rocky start, the actual plot and action is pretty good! Overall a good listen, esp if you think of it as two books instead of a trilogy. I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review
