When I saw that there was more than just Jeff Hayes doing the reading here, I was worried. His work in the previous 3 books has been top notch and I didn’t see a need for another reader.
But I’ll admit to being wrong. MASSIVELY wrong.

The voices Annie Ellicott put in added a domination level that was needed for the Dryad scenes. That plus the added sound effects made this audiobook well worth the money and time.

Story-wise: I will say this, pretzel levels of plot twists inside. I picked the wrong character for Boxxy to be as his ‘infiltration character’ and was actually surprised when it was revealed who it was. Boxxy’s character development has grown as has Fizzy’s. I didn’t see much of Snack or Arms getting development but having some background for Zone was a little chilling. Nice bit of foreshadowing as well with some of the other background characters.

With that said, I have a feeling that there will be a showdown between Boxxy’s crew and Edward’s Gilded Hand with Zone being a Flashpoint or a Judas. Boxxy might want revenge if it investigated who did what in that last section of the book, pre-epilogue.

The one thing I have to say about this series: I seriously don’t know what to expect as the endgame here. I’m cheering on a Monster. I’m a D&D gamer whose been playing since the days of 2E. I SHOULD be cheering on the “Enlightened” races here, but more often than not in this series I want the Monsters to win. I will not be surprised to see Boxxy get promoted to deity at the end of this series. “The God of Murphy’s Law”

I wonder if Boxxy’s aura will get worse for Humans. I wonder what his Kill Count is now…….
