I really struggled with this book. It was well written, and I understand that many people’s lives don’t fit into a nice cookie-cutter mold of perfection. Too many childhoods are stolen, innocence robbed, love withheld. This book explores that reality, but it also tells a “love story” between an adult man and a young child that becomes sexual when the girl is 13/14. I had to finish the book to see how it ended and I wish I had never started it. There is nothing beautiful about child rape.
