This is an interesting book. How can two families get along in the Apocalypse? There is an aging father suffering from dementia that adds another level of trouble as well.

The families are very different one comes from more of a country background that is used to farming, gardening and taking care of livestock. The other one is very much urban. They really do not have any skills and basically seem to just complain a lot and have a sense of entitlement

One of the families the husband has a military background the other does not even seem to have much of an outdoors background.

What do you do when you find neighbors killed for their provisions? What can you do; it’s impossible to do security all by yourself and if your brother isn’t capable or incompetent it adds to the stress.

This book is different than a lot of apocalyptic fiction. It’s much more centered on the event having happened and a tale of human survival. Essentially living in the 19th century and trying to figure out how to do things that have long since been forgotten

I enjoyed this book due to these differences. They seem like normal people vs. some novels the hero is a former special forces operator with an armory hidden in the closet and his wife grew up on a farm and has crazy farming, gardening and homesteading skills.

I was given this book by the author to review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions after giving it a listen. This is the book I think you will like if you like dystopian fiction.
