Having become an adult during the 1980’s, I appreciate the honesty of the writer regarding attitudes toward gay men as well as the overbearing & cruel nature of many straight white southern men toward their wives whom the men view as inferior.
Born in Fort Smith and raised in north Texas during the two decades before this murder, I could empathize with the feeling of inadequacy experienced by poor Linda Park Martin. I am grateful she only served 4 years in prison. The case should have pled down to manslaughter, rather than 2nd degree murder & would have been had her ex-husband not been in control of who got hired to represent an ex-wife he wanted out of the way.
