The characters Jack and Betty are one dimensional and emotionally shallow. They lack the logical ability to properly assess the world they currently live in and are constantly navel gazing about their feelings. Marteo’s admonition that people are the (their) greatest threat never sticks in Jack’s thinking or decisions. He lacks growth and leads by a committee of two. Some growth would help in their development, especially Jack.
