Lily Morton’s stories are always a treat and I absolutely loved the fact that this one featured characters slightly older than what’s trending in romance these days. Magnus and Laurie start off creating a beautiful friendship and I love the first impression that Laurie gets of Magnus as he escorts one of his younger companions out the door. It broke the ice and created a running inside joke that really showed how close these two become. It was great listening to Joel banter back and forth between these two as they show their love through taking their ribbing of each other and it was perfect how these two who claimed to be looking for something easy created something beautiful and complex. The big scene between Laurie and Mags had me just about in tears and my heart broke a bit with Mags at that point. These two fit each other incredibly well and get their much deserved happy ending.
Joel’s always so good with accents and voices. To me, he shines like he usually does delivering a great performance!
