This book was explained to me in the past as a LitRPG, which are books that I absolutely hate. So I avoided this book thinking the worst.
Well this book is unlike any LitRPG I’ve ever experienced because this is actually well written and doesn’t have all that stat rambling garbage filler that normally comes with LitRPGs. Also the story to explain away some of the RPG elements actually make sense and doesn’t just involve some guy getting sucked into a computer game.
This book was a lot of fun. The world building was incredible and really sold the magic and class system very well. The characters were interesting too and felt like they were lived in and realistic, like they were actually part of this weird world.
The plot was strange, it was going in one direction that i was totally appreciating albeit a bit tropey. At some point in the book it all sorta flips around out of nowhere and extremely quickly. The way the story just flips around was cool to see because I didn’t see it coming. It turns into this story about a struggling young adult trying to prove himself into this action adventure.
Its definitely a book I’ll remember because after finishing I immediately wanted to jump into book 2.
