I have read half a dozen books about the evolving crisis of opioids, fentanyl, meth, and subsequent American disillusionment. This book takes an extremely satisfying and variable approach, telling personal stories and painting with broad strokes. Quinones proves that the core of this issue is not found in addiction, but in community, commercialism, and cooperation. I found the whole thing to be touching and engaging, especially because of my existing knowledge. I have been recommending this to anyone who is new to the topic, as well as judges, social workers, former addicts, and academics. Phenomenal book. Please read and share.
