Overall, The Darkest Corners is a good story. Listening on Audible in the car, I found the storyline difficult to get into and was confused by all of the connections between the different characters for about half the book. The friendship between Tessa and Callie is well-developed and grows throughout the story.
The writing involves a lot of “tell” versus “unfold” – meaning the events in the ending were a bit far-fetched from the way the plot was developed throughout earlier parts of the story. The big uncovering of what had actually happened in the end was a bit too narrative. I would have preferred it to have unfolded more throughout the story so there didn’t have to be a big “unveiling” or explanation at the end.
