It’s been nagging at me for ~3 books now. The enemy has their fingers in too many pies, has wormed their way into too many critical positions, and has too many ‘feints’ or illusions going on. I don’t want to post spoilers, so I can’t explain exactly what’s wrong, but the enemy is simply too adept at running circles around the entire continent.
I quite enjoyed this series until the whole coup at the academy. It’s changed from a story about adventure and romantic hints to fighting some unknown unimaginably powerful enemy that completely throws off the original scope of the story.
At this point, if I finish listening to the story it will only be because I am too-far invested already. Sunken cost fallacy and all that.
