These would have been enjoyable “potato-chip” stories–if the characters did not use profanity incessantly and kill people to attain their selfish goals. I stopped and deleted the book after about 20 hours. Given that the ratings (4.7 stars at the time of this review) were higher than many Hugo and Nebula award-winning books, I have to assume that most of the other reviewers prefer profanity and violence over good science fiction.
