I’m three hours in. So far, it seems more like a Chick tract from the 80s than an apocalypse novel. Way too much Biblical content. I’m a devout and practicing Catholic. I believe in God’s Word. I disagree with a good deal of the theology presented in this book (very Charismatic Fundamentalist Protestantism, it seems to me) but that’s not the basic problem. The real problem is that it gets in the way of telling the story. And that’s not good. The performance is fine. Not superb but good. The issue is the story. It takes far too long to develop because of the preaching. I’m returning it.
