so the book series as a whole is a little grindy, ofc it is a LITRPG style series, and that’s to be expected, that’s not really the flaw of the series, if your a fan of LITRPG you know what you are getting yourself in to.
my problem with the series is that we have character’s that down right make dumb decisions, and i know it is likely that some characters are written that way but i come from the dresden files and completionist chronicles and if i may add bot of those characters act and feel pretty darn fleshed out and with some of their decisions feel natural and not some what absurd.
my biggest problem with this book in particular is that our BBEG/big bad evil villain’s feel like some cheap character who get’s their rocks off torturing puppies and laughing at their misfortune of coming across them and their fate has been sealed just for stumbling in the way of said characters evil might. when in reality all i feel when i hear one of either the main villain or villain’s laugh is how dumb they sound at the end of every laugh scene, and hate the writer for making it apart of the narrative either that or listening to the VA”s do it because the villains of the world feel like some low rated villain that needs to get kicked out of their own book series and recast by a new villain, because only the joker might be able to pull of the laugh they are trying to do and they embarrass themselves doing so.
on a new topic, many listeners have brought up that this particular book out of the series has some audio edits that felt cut or just not edited well. not much on that topic as it just makes the book less fun to listen to when things get chopped by accident for which im assuming. it is true and consider that when you decide to buy the series as whole.
