I was expecting insightful soul searching, or reactions of historical figures to the modern world. And those aspects were there… sort of. But unlike other books in this genre, our protagonists are spectators for only glimpses of time. Maybe it was my mood today, but I could have done without vivid descriptions of terrible events… especially when there was no pattern or experiential element. Think a long news reel of tragic events with just enough positive events to make me think, oh it might be changing now.
This is not a book for the faint of heart. It has humorous moments. It was vivid depictions. But overall I found the philosophy at the end was a bit contrived, not the pinnacle of the argument as is the case in books of this genre which I enjoy.
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.
