The premise for the isekai story is solid, but is then immediately ruined by our antagonist. Instead of being able to explore a world tree full of unique and beautiful worlds, the entire story is centered on a complete psychopath justifying his deplorable actions to himself.
Aside from the more subjective fact that I don’t like the level of sociopathy, there are some other issues for me. The dialogue felt clunky and unnatural, and there were some weird paper-thin writing plot tools used to put events in motion.
To end on a positive note, I think the narration was good and there were some really cool elements to this rogue-like world. Powers are earned and not just easily dished out to the protagonists. Resources are limited and Death is abundant, which I think is handled well by the author. I also enjoyed not being beaten to death with endless exposition and ability descriptions.
