Prior to this I listened to the Extinction Series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith and really really enjoyed them. If you liked this one, I highly recommend those. Anyway, this books is quite the change of pace from the Extinction Series ones I listened to. Slow burn is much more humorous, sarcastic humor, brutal and graphic. Took me a minute to honestly get into it and enjoy the characters, but I really loved them by the end. I will say they killed off certain characters far too easily, didn’t feel like there was closure. I suppose that would be how it is in real life, but as a reader it would have been nice. Overall, 10 out of 10.
