This is the first Leafy Hollow mystery I’ve read or listened to. While it worked as a stand alone book there were a few unexplained pieces and I’ve now gone back and started reading the series from the beginning. Yes, I enjoyed this book so much that I want to read every book, starting with book 1.
Verity Hawkes has found a new home in Leafy Hollow, one where she feels comfortable and has friends, unlike her previous life in Vancouver, BC where she was lonely and prone to anxiety attacks. She even has a budding romance. When a local realtor is kidnapped, a demand is made for a ransom to be delivered by Verity and no one else. From this point on, nothing is as it seems and I spent time suspecting almost every person in the book before discarding them to focus on the next possible suspect. The twists and turns never end. The characters are engaging and the book kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
