I was not expecting much when I started this, but I ended up loving every moment of it. Sage is a level 2 magic user who has had a hard life. His mother was taken too early and his father was horrible.
Luckily he meets a ghost named Gideon who tells him what kind of magic he really has and at the age of 30 he finally gets a familiar.
He falls hard for the ghost and with help from his grandmother, makes it so he can be with Gideon.
There is a conspiracy where people want to kill people with this kind of magic, but Sage was strong enough to fight back.
Joel Leslie really made this book better.
