There is so much in this story to keep you on your toes. What starts out seemingly as a slow burn between a former special operator cowboy and an independent, hesitant rescue ranch woman turns cryptic as the past Lucy had thought she’d outrun turns her hard won peace upside down. Luckily, she had started letting Bo in so she has a fighter in her corner, but things turn sinister in the blink of an eye. With danger, action, suspense, a fiesty old woman to add humor, and a growing love, this story will keep your attention. The narration is terrific by Ada Sinclair and Jamal Roque as they bring the journey to life. I love how Freya’s heroines are strong and independent and find the love of men who can appreciate this, although they may get exasperated at times at each other. Trigger warnings though as the tough subject of sexual assault and abuse is discussed in this book.
