The twists here are interesting and the reading performance is excellent. The beta-male behavior of even the seemingly most assertive males makes me wonder if Tom had a co-author. I’ve not seen his other characters asking their wife for permission to take a short drive…but it happens here. This shows a strong effort to prove beta men can be good dads… though in my mind this book now seems to have an agenda. Weird. Then there is the length. At the beginning of book 1 there is an excerpt (with slight variations) of a climax that occurs in book 3. These books are incomplete. It is okay for books to take 30 hours…and if it’s a money thing, well at least double them up. I’m done after book 3. If we took out re-hash of past stuff, total book would be <5 hours. That isn’t worth a credit.
So despite this fellow being a favorite author, I can’t really recommend these unless money is no concern, and you don’t mind men that are consistently overpowered by their female relationship leader. Again, weird—ALL of the relationships are female dominated.
