Very well written and shows the true character of the man. This is the perfect follow-up read to Ty Cobb a terrible beauty. Both show and deminish a lot of the myths from the life of a great man with flaws and regrets, just like everyone else. I’ve always felt that something wasn’t right with the image portrayed of Ty Cobb by Al Stump and Ray Liotta in field of dreams. This book really shows the character of the man. This book destroys the myth that this great man was a heartless tyrant. Ty Cobb was the first real superstar in a time when there was jealousy and no real media, perspective, or precedent. If Ty Cobb were to play during the modern era he would be held in higher regard like Micheal Jordan or Tom Brady. Somehow there are great people in history that fall victim to hearsay, myth and rumors. Ty Cobb in my opinion was one of those great men. Herschel Cobb did a fine job of shining a light on how great his Granddaddy truly was.
