This book felt like a waterfall; powerful, large, unexpected, and will carry you away whether you’re ready for it or not. An original story, I’ve never read anything like it – think last air bender, samurai story, and The Good Earth? It was heart wrenching and unbelievably human with every page. The characters were perfection, the plot was engaging, and it’s simply not a book that I will be forgetting.

One thing I will ponder here is that there was what felt like a plot thread that was setup towards the end that felt open ended, especially knowing that this is a standalone with no plans of expansion, it was bizarre? Just not sure why the author would do that work with no intention of seeing it through. It doesn’t take away from the main story, you should absolutely pick this up!
