The story is fine for what it is and so is most of the narration, but there are frequent, jarring and disruptive “effects” that kick you right out of the story. sometimes the special effects are so horrendous that the regular volume is three times louder than the “special” parts, so you either can’t hear parts or you turn it up and get your eardrums blown out. I truly can’t understand how a book with sections that badly balanced made it into production.
