These books have no depth, feel like the outline of a better book.

I love the premise of the book and the basic character structure had potential. But it lacks any complexity or character development.

Spoiler: My main example of this is how the mom Beth, gets taken by a cult, and simply escapes with a brief tussle with 2-3 guards and a quick dash to a conveniently unlocked car with the keys inside. The whole scene felt very lazy. It felt like the author needed to add length to the book and plugged in a generic chapter.

Narrator was solid.
