This is not good, but not actively bad either. It exists and costs one token. So you’re pretty much gonna get that as an experience.

Almost turned it off at the first cringe-worthy sexism, but I thought ehhh maybe it will redeem itself. It doesn’t, not really. It’s all just pretty much very mediocre adventures, where everything is pretty much always fine.

I’m unsure if this writer has ever met a woman after finishing this series, though. As they literally only exist as sex objects or pieces to talk about the main characters. One cool lady shows up for a bit, then randomly turns into a meek and quiet housewife for the MC to impregnate.

0 queer representation; there’s some lesbian moments but it’s ten thousand percent just written from the perspective of a cringe straight white guy, so it doesn’t count.

Every joke is pretty much bad, like if someone’s dad was trying to make dad jokes the entire time, but they never really land and they’re not aware that they’re dad jokes at all.

Every single moment with the dog was pure cringe baby talk, with another plot point that just kinda fizzles out, like the entire series. Author seems to forget his own plot points at times as well.

Side note: the main characters parents have zero redeeming qualities, and are actually villains the entire time but for some reason everyone just gives them a pass the whole time. It’s very jarring and strange.

But the content = value is why I kept listening, mostly to see if it redeems itself with character growth or something. It doesn’t. It’s a very okay read if you’re completely out of interesting things like I was. But don’t be fooled by the reviews that compare it to ‘The Orville’ or ‘Firefly’ those shows have actual jokes and actual Heart, and these books have neither.

Zero character growth for any character, and the only PoC is someone with a fake Cajun accent, being called a Creole.

Esper could’ve been cool, but she is essentially just the writer’s jackoff material. Zero depth, all heavy breathing cringe horny situations.

Also the narrator is good as a narrator, but terrible for a ‘humor’ book. Takes already lame jokes and makes them painful.
