This book feels like someone other than Jennifer McMahon wrote it.
There is no depth, the character development is weak, there is virtually no description of the places, the setting, the characters, there is no atmosphere.
I fell in love with this author several years ago and binge read four or five of her books because of it.
She has such a way of creating complex yet compelling plots and her characters are always exceedingly well developed.
That is NOT the case with this book.
It is so simple, so obvious, and honestly almost silly that it seems like she was just writing something to fulfill a contractual obligation.
The narration is atrocious.
Hilary Huber’s voice has no inflection or emotion, and it ultimately all falls so flat.
I was so excited to read this book and was profoundly disappointed.
Books like The Drowning Pool and The Winter Sister were amazing, also The Uninvited…
This book was terrible, start to finish.
