Ok, so I have loved this series so far. I like the character development, the world building, and especially the politics of how outside the dungeon is effecting the inside. This one had some of that, but was just slow. I actually took a few week break right in the middle of it. It just didn’t pull me in and make me want to go back to listening. It was a bit of a chore.

The setting was multiple bubble worlds that worked well to break up Carl from the friends he had made in the last book, which worked fine, but it also kept him safe from the enemies he had made along the way. It definitely got better by the end, but overall the pacing just wasn’t great and it felt a little slow and drawn out.

I am writing this review after I finished the next book, and I will say it is worth pushing thru. If this is the worst book in the series so far, the next book is the best. Definitely worth a listen.
