I’ll be honest, I didn’t finish it yet and may never finish it. In fact, I’ll try to get a refund.
The voice actor they chose for this story is unbearable. He sounds very professional and nice—but more like a medicine commercial or like he’s reading to a little kid at bed time.
Not only does his voice not fit the setting and characters whatsoever, but it is clear that he has never heard a Japanese word in his life, and the producers didn’t think to correct him.
If the translation is going to keep Japanese words, then they should make sure the actor knows the basic pronunciation of at least the most used ones. I’m not a snob or an otaku, he’s just not even close. Didn’t even try.
I’m a little surprised to see so many passing grades given to the performance. The book is good so far, but the voice is killing me.
