As we learn more about Carl and Donut we get even more invested in their survival. And as we meet more crawlers – and learn more about the backstory of minor characters – the world of the dungeon feels more and more emotionally complex. This installment is still funny and exciting with plenty of twists and turns but with every book the series also takes on additional depth. And the audiobook narration continues to be excellent.
