The main character Zed could be a little irritating at times but the books other characters provided a respite to his unwillingness to let go of trauma. Definitely representative of some of the people one may meet in life and beggars the question “are these the individuals who will be the powerhouses should a zombie apocalypse occur?”
Not by themselves, I’d say after listening to all nine books. The saga could have been dedicated to the forever young wisdom of The Beatles; I get by with a little help from my friends. A more than bearable listen once the bleeding of the ears from Zed’s bulldog hold on a childhood that definitely could’ve been better passes. But hey, what can you expect when a harpy and ogre decide to play house. Bends belief a bit but doesn’t break it.
