This is a book to which I wish I could give more than 5 stars, simply because it’s themes of found family, inner strength, and love in all its forms are so profound and beautiful as to leave an indelible mark on any reader giving it their true attention. I own this book in every format it’s available in, and have gifted copies to all my loved ones, because this story is so hopeful and meaningful and strong. I was afraid, before taking a chance on the audiobook, that hearing the voices of characters I loved so much in print brought to life by someone I didn’t know would strip some of the magic for me. It is my greatest pleasure to announce that I was wrong. Kirt Graves brings a sweet and poignant atmosphere to the story for the characters I love so much, without losing the lightness and joy that can be found sprinkled throughout the story to help keep our hearts afloat in the midst of all their struggles. He has granted something to Ox’s character that I didn’t even know I was missing, and now, when I read any of the books, it’s his version of Ox that I hear. This is my absolute favorite book, my most treasured audiobook, and one of the best investments I have ever made of my time or money. Take the chance on this book. I promise you won’t regret it.
