Maybe not, but he’s an idiot that’s for sure. Only a 12 hr audiobook and a quarter of it is the LitRPG crap that desperately needs to be edited for audiobook format. The MC is written as a clever and smart kid, but his actions speak to directly the opposite. He keeps asking why why why without putting the pieces together. Without trusting the words and advice of his goddess or anyone else with the special mark, at least at first. Idk I just wish the MC would have been written differently, because making him out to be smart, then turn around and have him running around like an utter idiot is frustrating to listen to. When he meets his mentor and he explains everything that just happened to MC, like literally it happened to him right in front of him, MC just goes ‘oh…’ like a fool. Because he is. To seem like a real person, the character needs to have a modicum of common sense. ‘Did you just take those right in front of us?’ Like dude, after everything you’ve seen Kai do, you’re surprised that she can steal food from under your nose like… ahhhh so stupid. I get that he’s a kid and unexperienced and all that, but man this one is tough to slog through. Hopefully the next book doesn’t have me quitting the series, but I’ll admit I’m on the fence at the moment.
