I really need/want to go back to the beginning to get the full story/storyline of the series. This is an excellent standalone. Not quite as dark as JACKSON, but still had the overtones. When an author makes one cry, you know it’s good writing. That happened within the last hour. Before that, it was a book that I didn’t want to pause. Demi is a favorite character. She was so sweet, loyal, and strong. Her relationship with her father was so special. He made my heart melt. Charlie wasn’t my favorite at the beginning, but certainly redeemed himself. Loved the epilougues! Sarah Puckett and Michael Gallagher are excellent narrators. Both are favorites of mine. They put such emotion into their performances. It rolls like a movie in my head.
