The short and simple is I enjoyed the story, though I often had to rewind it to listen to parts again, and a large part of that was because I was so annoyed by the narrators voice. At first I didn’t think I’d even be able to listen through it. I don’t know if he was outting on a voice or not, but the super nasally tone reminded me heavily of a character mocking a super pompous aristocrat in any almost any story told in that time period. It just didn’t suit the vibe of the story. Obviously I got used to it over time, and I enjoyed how he did Fenn’s voice, but everyone else was nails on a chalkboard. The spice was spicy and the details were good, so I thoroughly enjoyed that. I’ll definitely give her other books a try. Hopefully they’ll be just as good, but maybe with a different narrator.
