This really scratched my craving for something light and gave me something hilariously, stupidly fun.
This was overall amazing with its characters and use of high camp humor. Everything felt saturated with humor and i felt like the main character to deliver most of the jokes was written very well.
At first I did feel like a lot of world building and supporting characters may have been introduced a bit too fast. I would have to refresh my memory regularly at first to be able to tell who was who. By the end of the book though it does get a lot easier and I got familiar enough with each of the important characters and their quirks.
I can say though I can not imagine trying to consume too many books like this and may need to give space in between this and attempting the sequal. By the end I was very much getting towards being a bit overwhelmed by the same type of humor being repeated and the high level of energy. The pacing was great, the high level of energy was mostly from the main character always having quips nearly every few minutes and the rest of the cast constantly would respond to these quips. You hear enough of that and it gets kinda old.
The plot is a mess. In a good way. Theres so much going on with what is supposed to be a simple straightforward adventure. I liked all the distractions and side action going on. I think it just suited my craving at the time because it was all very nonsensical that the trouble focusing didn’t bother me but in fact made me super curious how the plot was going to pull itself together into something cohesive amongst all the nonsense.
Overall, highly recommend it for anyone needing some instant gratification. This throws you right into the campy fun right away and doesn’t stop until the end.
