I was hesitant at first by the title, but I know Gregg’s style and Pierce’s uncanny ability to create a scene so vivid and powerful. Both men do not disappoint. If you are not familiar with Jack Olsen, engraciate yourself to his writing. Gregg has stated the most difficult task in his life was phoning Jack for support. True Crime , thanks to these two men has revived the genre. While Truman Capote introduced literary true crime affeciandos, Jack wanted truth in his books, not the stuff of late night Martinis that a typewriter would produce in the form of “In Cold Imagination.” Jack Pierce, posthumously would get his due, but it took a fighter, and superb author such a Gregg to expose him. If this isn’t your first glimpse into Olsen prose, you’ll absolutely love it. If it’s your first, I envy what awaits you.
